Motz Chechen |
Motz Chechen To the east of the cenote Monolith, very close to the dirt road that leads to the cenote Dos Ojos opens a crack in the ground at the foot of a tall chechen tree, from which the system takes its name. Two feet below the water in sight. It is february 04 2011 when Alessandro Reato begins an exploration of the cave.
Just at the entrance are visible shardsof pottery of mayan origin, unfortunately all very spoiled. The water comes from the northwest throuh a small and unstable hole on the bottom. In the other direction leads a small tunnel that opens up after about 160 feet in a passage of over 30 feet wide. Are explored 1037 feet of the cave, are also visible bones and teeth of mammals. The water flow is very small, and characteristics of the bottom do not suggest a very large cave. February 8, 2011: Unfortunately, a few meters after the end of the previous exploration, the cave will come out in a second cenote, beyond which you can see the water flow to slip into a fissure thet does not allow for further advancement. At about 200 feet to the south-east lies the system of Tercer Ojo.
Towards the southwest is explored another passage that leads to third cenote very small. The water emerges from a slot that does not allow to continue. The distance to the nearest known cave (the downstream section of the cenote Monolito) is about 900 feet. Are added to the system 758 feet of cave.
