The system takes the name from tha main cenote, actually "Chac Mool" that means "jaguar cave"

The access is on the west side of the federal road 307, 1 km south from Puerto Aventuras.

It is a system very famous to have inside, in the Monster House, the longest, submersed, stalactite of the world 840 feet), which is called Xix Ha Tunich (litterally Drip Water Stone).

Passages are tipically phreatics, and most of the cave system develops at the halocline depth (that is a difference in density of fresh water above and salt water below), which is on 33 ft deep.

From the main cenote is possible to traverse to other cenotes: up-stream toward cenote Pakal and down-stream toward the cenote Mojarra and Miracle.

Actually the system include 9193 metres of underwater caves.
